Chapter 5 - The Party

A week after her birthday, the professor that Laura was working for was holding a party at his house. When she first landed the summer job working for him, she was quite excited. He was a well-respected member of his department, with many graduate students and an impressive track record of publishing. Laura had hoped to become one of his grad students in the Fall when she started her Master's. However, as she started working in closer proximity to him, she became less enthusiastic about having him as her supervisor. While she didn't have any problems with his academic work, she did say she he would make comments to her that made her uncomfortable. While he was fairly careful, he did and do things that made it clear to her that he was interested in having an affair with him, despite the fact he was married with two kids and knew that she had a boyfriend. Laura did her best to ignore his innuendo and not-too-subtle leering, determining to find someone else in the department to study under for her Master's.

As much as she didn't like her boss Larry, she still felt it necessary to go to his party.
