I work in a carpet store. I meet all kinds of people. Mostly it's the women who make the decision on the style and color. The guys are along to pay! Like the boss says, very few people go into a carpet store to browse around. Of course we sell more than carpet, we have laminate, area rugs and vinyl flooring products too. One of my adventures involved a lady who came in to buy vinyl to redo her kitchen.

She walked in one hot sunny day, wearing a plastic sun visor over her long black hair and a full length dress. The dress was cut so that it fit tightly over her bust (not inconsiderable) and fell away from there. Very loose and comfortable I imagined. She was probably Chinese and had a dazzling white smile and easy manner. I watched as she flicked through the vinyl samples and noticed she kept returning to one particular design. Time to move in. The conversation went something like this.

Good Morning, can I be of any help.

"Oh yes please, I need new kitchen floor. Old one very poor now."

How much flooring do you need?

"Don't know size, but is funny shape, here is drawing"
