"Can I use your phone?" My voice trembled a little at the thought of making such a personal call at a friend's mother's house. With so many people milling about I wasn't even sure I would be able to find a quiet place to make the call. My friend handed me her cordless phone, and as if reading my mind, ushered me towards the front porch that ran along the length of the house. It was quiet out front, in the shade. Holding my pager in one hand, the cordless phone in the other, I checked the number again. 701.. I closed my eyes and smiled to myself before beginning to dial the all too familiar number. My heart began to race as the phone rang, and I started to hang up and take a minutes to compose myself when I heard your voice.
