It was a real bummer.

My mom and dad had divorced a little more than a year ago and my mom started seeing this guy, Bill, a couple months later. Things heated up and the two of them were head over heels for each other. I didn't mind so much until the news came that the two of them were going to get married and we'd be moving into a different school district in an adjacent county.

The wedding was in late August, just after my eighteenth birthday and the two of them took off for their honeymoon the day after classes started at my new school as I began my senior year. Bill's daughter, Julia, who was 22, was going to be at the house to watch things and be my apparent "babysitter". We really didn't know each other at all and she'd been living with her boyfriend, Peter, for the past 4-5 months.

I was not a happy camper! I had to switch schools, didn't know a soul or have any friends and was going to be living in a house with my new step-sister. When I got home that first day, I noticed Peter's car in the driveway along with Julia's. I came in and set down my books and didn't see either of them in the living room or the family room. I climbed the stairs to the second floor and heard some noises coming from the master bedroom. Now Julia was bunked in a spare bedroom in the basement, so I wondered what she'd be doing up here?
