The Champs Chapter 8

Most of the guys hurried about getting their clothes changed, stripping out of the Mr D' shorts as soon as they walked into the locker room, and put on their jeans and shirts and what ever shoes they were going to be wearing, and headed out the door to go pick up their girl friends. A few who didn't have girl friends, stuck around and helped me put the equipment back where it belonged, so they could follow me home. It took about 15 minutes with all the bodies working together to get things accomplished, and we were on our way within 20 minutes of getting off the bus.

I looked in my rear view mirror as I drove down the long lane to our house and could see 6 or 7 sets of head lights creeping along the bumping drive, and closing in behind me. I stopped my car and jumped out and directed each car to back into the yard facing the circular driveway, so everyone could pull out and leave as the night progressed. I headed for the house, and my dad came thru the doorway carrying a huge tray of sandwiches. My mom was right behind him with a bunch of bags of potato chips and smiling from ear to ear. They told me they were expecting us, but thought they could use a few more minutes to finish setting things up. Ian and Nathan, 2 of the team's rookies walked over to my mom and took the chips from her and said they'd be glad to help. She smiled and thanked them graciously.
