The Concerned Mother Pt. 2

Most of the morning became a faded memory from the little spat they had first thing, to the unplanned separation when Tommy had to take care of a friend before taking the car to the mechanic. Krista remembered clearly an eagerness to visit with Jane as the day played out in her mind. Krista could hear Tommy now as he barked at her, "I know the car has to go into the shop or we'll get a ticket!" If the appointed time weren't drawing near, she wouldn't have said anything. A raft of unrecognizable voices drifted into her mind some close and whispering while others were talking loudly and far away, but none of the words said anything. Jane would squeeze her, her eyes would close, and the sounds vanished only the lovely pastels of the sunset and thrilling to Jane's touch.

"I'll meet you at mom's" called Tommy, "she said you could spend the night there with me." Echoed through Krista's mind as she thought about Tommy... and a number of his excuses to keep the unwanted distance between them, "Yea I love you honey... I've been so busy with work lately...
