When Karen Robinson, an acquaintance of Adrian's, told him of the web design convention where he could pick up some useful tips and hopefully get a load of new customers, he booked a flight and a hotel immediately and got tickets for the event. Karen, who was always interested in new technologies for her own websites, had already booked her own tickets for the show. It was strange. They had done a lot of flirting, but neither of them had thought that anything would ever come of it seeing as Karen was married and Adrian was content in a series of medium term relationships. As Karen would be out of town during the week before the show, they would travel separately.

Arriving at the hotel, Adrian checked into his room, unpacked his bag for his three night stay and went to the hotel bar to unwind from his journey. Travelling didn't stress him, like it did to other people, but it was nice just to have a drink and unwind after dealing with all the complications and frustrations of long distance travel. Plus, the convention wasn't due to start until the next day, so he had the rest of the afternoon and the evening to spend by himself.

Ordering a cold beer, he settled into a booth and started reading the sports pages. After a while, he felt a tap on his shoulder. It was Karen.

"Hi Karen," Adrian stood up to greet her. "Have you been here long?"
