The Shop

Ever since I could remember, I had worked for my dad in one shop or another, my dad started out by buying tiny a newsagent for next to nothing and over the years managed to build his own little empire.

"Son, you have to work hard, because one day all this will be yours" My father used to tell me. By the time I hit 16, I realised that one of the advantages of having a son was that it was cheap labour. My father only paid me 40 pounds a week for working about 65 hours a week. Okay so I lived at home with my step mum and dad and they paid for everything else but I felt insulted.

As my 18th birthday approached I had my doubts about whether I wanted to work for my dad any more, at my age I should be out cruising with my mates, getting drunk, getting laid, and just being a typical 18 year old.

By the time I was finished working I was too tired to go cruising with my mates, my dad did allow me to drink at home, but I always got the scornful looks if I over did it, and well as I had very little time to myself finding a girlfriend was really difficult, getting laid was almost impossible.
