Adventures in a New Home III

“Sam, Sam!....wake up, you’re going to be late for your appointment”. As my eyes slowly opened and became accustomed to the bright sunlight, there was David at the side of the bed with a pot of coffee and some toast. “What happened”, I asked, still not aware that the clock was reading 8am, and I was feeling very dead. “Wow, man you really got fucked up last night”, David reminded my hung over and barely functioning head. “Don’t you remember, we went back to Mike and Paul’s room and did some more reefer and beer and had another sex session?”, David quizzed me. Then it all started to return to my foggy memory. And was I paying for it this morning!

As I made my way out of the bed to the bathroom to take a leak, David prepared my coffee and awaited my return. “But what happened to the limo, the driver and all the cash?”, I asked. “What in the hell are you talking about, man?”, replied David as he shook his head. As I took a sip of the coffee from a Styrofoam cup, I realized that I had been the victim of a dream that will never be.

Over my third cup of coffee and toast, I relayed my dream to David. Although I retold my dream to him with all seriousness, he could not help but chuckle a bit at my remorse of my lost fortune that never was ...
