It's truly funny how life can be sometimes. I was a kid from a modest income family, and both of my parents had to make ends meet. I'd be left a lone quite a bit, and I had to become independent at a young age. For some kids, being left alone means they turn out all wrong. For I, it made me a confident young man, one who was never afraid of anyone or anything.

There were times, though, when my parents did force a baby-sitter on me, usually when they'd both be away for 8 or more hours. Both of them had irregular hours and changing shift times. Sometimes they'd be there for breakfast, sometimes for supper when I got back from school and sometimes, they wouldn't be there for what seemed like days.
