Fiona's 18th

Fiona had been Dave Costello's apprentice mechanic for nearly two years. She had literally "blown in" from hitchhiking her way from Perth. A chance stop at Dave's Black Stump Roadhouse had her literally stumble into his workshop. He had been tuning a car at the time, and really could use an extra pair of hands at the time. Without so much as one word of instruction, she had solved the problem that he had been struggling with for the past fifteen minutes. At the time, his apprentice had moved on to "greener pastures" and he found himself short staffed. A quick check of her references proved that her handiwork was no fluke. He hired her on the spot, and she'd been his right hand ever since.

Fiona had escaped from a home that might make Hell look like a picnic. A heroin addicted mother, a drunk and speed addicted father, she just couldn't tolerate home any more. Dave was her boss, her mentor and her best friend all in one. Under his guidance, she blossomed from a shy, skinny 15-year-old teenager, to an independent, cocky mechanic. Not that he minded, both he and his customers found her cheeky sense of humour entertaining. Her long dark hair, dark eyes, subtle curves and pale complexion weren't hard on the eye either.
