Cristina arrived at her apartment bubbling with joy. Only thirty minutes ago she had received news from the producers of "Singing for a Dream", that she had been chosen to participate in the upcoming ‘reality TV' program. She had auditioned over a month ago giving every ounce of her vocal talents and praying that she would be picked. And now she had to think about living in a house with the other 14 contestants for the four month duration for the competition. She was anxious to tell Kelly the good news and had cut short her recording session just to rush home to deliver the news personally.

Kelly was her housemate and best friend and Cristina knew she would be overjoyed to hear the news. They had been living together for the past year having found each other in the sunny Caribbean Island, Barbados. Cristina was from Mexico, and had traveled to the island looking for a market for her families silver business in Mexico and Kelly was born in New York but having family on the island, the twenty-five year old had gone to the island with high hopes of forming a career in the Hotel Industry on the great tourist island. Having met at the hotel where they both presently worked, the girls immediately took to one another and weeks after had decided to give up their individual apartments opting for less expenses and the company that they had enjoyed sharing at work.
