An Honorable Union by Will Buster

This story is an experiment. The English Norman period is one of my favorites and I hope I've captured the spirit of the times. Let me know if you like my depiction of this courtly age. "I thought it would be a good idea for you to meet your betrothed." Young Brian Fitzgibbon raised his eyebrows ever so slightly as his curiosity was invoked by his father's comment. Brian had been wondering what all the fuss was about, the servants busy at refurbishing the great hall and all the rest. "It took some doing my young cockerel, but I've been able to negotiate an alliance between our family and Lord Gilbert by acquiring his young daughter Eleanor." Brian sipped from the strong Acquatanian wine that his father kept importing year after year. "That's impressive father. For a mere baron to obtain the daughter of an Earl is quite an accomplishment." Reginald Fitzgibbon gave his son a critical look.
