Legal Ease 6 by Will Buster

The wedding between Robert Winslow and Edwina Ballister was an arduous affair. It seemed to the new couple that all of upper crust Boston was there. The service was in the old North church and it felt like the proceedings took forever. The minister was some long winded, squint eyed septuagenarian with a raspy voice and bad breath. Half way through his sermon Edwina wanted to scream out, "I do, cock and all!" But somehow she gritted her gleaming white teeth and smiled to one and all. Robert was a little more composed, more used to long sermons. His father's brother was a clergyman, however he'd passed away from a stroke two years passed while haranguing his congregation about the miserable sinner in the hands of an angry God. He'd been there and witnessed it. Just as he'd reached the point where he was describing the lake of fire that burned eternally and could not be quenched, the preacher collapsed. Robert figured there must be something to it all if the preacher was willing to die for his faith. In his more mischievous moments he sometimes wondered if maybe God was trying to tell believers something by permitting the preacher to die at such a moment. Maybe the right reverend John Winslow had deserved it and then again it might have just been a coincidence.
