Gabriel: The Cleansing

Gabriel felt enormously guilty after he embraced Aglae; he felt as if he had done it against her will. He was also confused about why she had become some kind of demon and not a vampire. Human women were too weak to become demons. He had finally decided that she had been an Angel. He noted her intoxicating scent and demure appearance as evidence of this fact. Fearing not only her hatred of him, but also the implications of embracing a holy being, he had left the house for several days, observing her from a distance and trying to collect his thoughts. His morose mood made it difficult to do so.

He watched her day after day, night after night, from afar. The first time she left the house to feed, he was sure he would never see her again. He watched dispassionately as she stalked her prey; a common thief lurking in a Parisian square. He observed that she hunted by scent, but was smelling something besides energy. He would later learn that the angelic side of her allowed her to sense guilt, and the demonic side allowed her to smell fear. It was on fear and blood that she fed, but her nature prevented her from harming innocents. All the same, she considered humans weak, and her feeding ritual was one of gore and passion, far removed from the quiet draining vampires practiced.
