Repaying with interest. By Lady Grey

Katherine was more than a little curious when she arrived home that evening and found the front door of her house wide open. She knew Ben was in the house because he had called her only an hour ago. She got out of the car and walked into the house more than a little apprehensively. Once inside she saw immediately that something was wrong. A large plant and a table that it had been on were laying broken on the floor, dirt from the pot strewn all over the place.

She called Ben's name out but there was no reply. She thought of calling the police but dismissed it, waiting to find out just what was wrong first. In the lounge she found the problem. She screamed and ran over to him when she saw Ben lying on the carpet, blood running down his face. She bent over him thinking the worst, that he was dead, but when she touched him, he groaned.

He looked up at her, relief in his face. "What happened, darling? How did you get like this? Have you been attacked?" The questions came out in quick succession not giving him time to answer.

"Just get me a whisky," he said. "It's not as bad as it looks." Katherine stood up and went over to the drinks cabinet and poured him a large Scotch. When she got back he was struggling to his feet, wiping away the blood with a handkerchief. ...
