EDWIN TAKES A WIFE 14 BY WILL BUSTER

Edwin spent the rest of that day checking on events that had taken place during his long absence. Some of the older townspeople had perished during the winter and one or two of the surfs had mysteriously disappeared but apart from that everything was pretty much as it should have been. The horses and cows were all in good condition. The stable hands and herdsmen knew their trade well and Edwin was glad to see at least a few things had gone right since his hasty departure at Christmas tide.

During a brief stop at the local tavern he learned of Jane's profligate behavior that she'd engaged in once she'd been delivered of sir Thomas Chatterton's lusty little bastard daughter. Edwin shook his head in mock disbelief as he sipped his mead. He'd known of course that Jane once had plied her trade as a well practiced London whore. Thomas Chatterton had found her at an exclusive brothel and brought the wanton back to Westbrook castle along with the rest of her no account family. The Wheeler family members were settled in various degrees except for young Anne, who currently was Edwin's full service whore. Jane had been his to after Thomas's untimely death but now the unfortunate blonde was a fading memory.
