Fly the friendly skies

When you tell women that you are a pilot, the job seems to have some sort of sex appeal to women, whether it's the thought that you get paid well, which I'm afraid isn't as good as some believe, or something else I have never managed to work it out.

Since the age of 10, I always wanted to be a pilot, at 17 I joined the air force, okay so I wasn't suitable to fly fighters, but I was trained to fly cargo aircrafts, within 7 years I had decided that I wanted to leave the forces and have a crack at civilian aviation.

After six months of trying to find the right job, I finally got a position with a large passenger airline, even though I had my pilots license, I still had to go for a couple of months training before they let me loose on the public.

My wife was pleased as she could return to England and be close to her family, and our son would have family about him as he grew up, for me I got the chance to see the world, or so I thought.

My first 5 months saw me doing domestic flights from England to Scotland and back again, admitted this wasn't what I wanted but it did prove invaluable as I got to learn new airports and was given time to settle in. ...
