Part two of, "And Sew On"

Quietly, I slipped into our cubicle at the sewing shop and was greeted by Kaddee sitting in the chair behind our shared desk. Her lips were pursed in an imaginary kiss that she blew to me. As the kiss left her face it was replaced by a pleasant smile. I raised my hand in a Hi motion. Kaddee, as usual was talking on the phone - sometimes the phone appears to be growing out of her ear, she uses it so much.

The manuals, papers, and such that I had, I placed on the little counter to one side. After waiting awhile, I reached for the door and gave it a little slam to get her attention, because she was facing away from me. When she looked my way, I pointed my index finger at her and held it up - signaling one moment. I needed to speak with her for a moment.

No one in our outfit knows sewing machines the way that K D does. From straight stitch to zigzag or even the newest computer driven machines, she is the expert without question. Her one fault unfortunately is that English is not her native language. The country she comes from in Europe is unknown to me. It might be Poland or one near there. She tried to tell me her name and the country she was from, but when she is excited her confidence leaves and she speaks gibberish - completely unintelligible to most people. ...
