When we went in she excused herself for no reason I could think of. I walked around her living room waiting. When she returned in what looked to be a jogging suit I thought maybe she was going to have the drink, send me on my way, and then work out. The suit seemed way too casual to be a gym outfit, which is when I realized that she was wearing her pajamas. My hopes were dashed. Now I knew that she was sending the signal that she was tired, and wanted me to leave as soon after the drink as possible. I told her that I should really be going. We had to work tomorrow and I had to get home and get things ready for tomorrow. "What things?" she asked. Well, um you know the sort of things that you need to get together for work the next day.

"I thought we were going to have a drink," she replied. Oh, I had forgotten. What shall it be? "Martini?" she asked. I'm not sure it was actually a question, but I said yes. She started to prepare them and I started to get anxious. She must have noticed, because she asked me to have a seat if I liked. I liked, so I sat down on the couch. A few minutes she settled in next to me with our drinks.

"How long have you been working with us now?" she asked. I didn't know, maybe six months. "How is it that I haven't met you before?" was her next question. I felt like saying that it was probably the same reason I had never noticed you. I've been too busy with getting used to the new job, and all that it takes to learn a new position, but decided I should just say I didn't know, so I did. After some light conversation ...
