I had gone to New York last May to do some research work at a company for a continuing education piece I was completing. A friend allowed me the use of his lab facilities there. After getting in late Friday and setting up with security and dropping off my work, I went to my hotel. Saturday I worked from about 7AM til after eleven that night and again went back to my hotel. I was in this facility alone for almost the entire time as this place is completely empty on weekends, with only the occasional person in checking on their work or catching up on something. Most of my company was from the security guards who would stick a nose in a few times without saying much.

Sunday was pretty much the same and I was set to finish early. It was a glorious day so I went out before heading over to the tombstone--the building is over 40 stories in the middle of just about nothing--and had on a light dress and [horrors before Memorial Day!] white shoes as I wanted to not have to schlep back to change before going out in the afternoon. I checked in, got appreciative looks from the two guards, and headed up.

When this building closes on weekends, many of the main systems are shut down. The heating and cooling cuts back depending on the time of year--in winter it cools to 50 degrees-except where there are actually people located [in summer it's the AC that gets turned off except for the area you are in].
