Roger Reborn 3 By Will Buster

The next morning, Roger wandered around the sizable Hallworth estate becoming more familiar with it all. First he visited the stables and admired the horses. They were of varied coloring and temperament. It was if each horse had its own personality as he went from stall to stall. He learned the names of three or four of the mounts from the groom without actually asking for that information. He didn't want anyone to realize his lack of knowledge that anyone of the family would be expected to know. Nevertheless when Roger eventually left the stables the groom was scratching his head in wonder. Lord Stapleton's son also known as Roger Hallworth was unusually well mannered and attentive to everything he'd said. He shrugged his strong shoulders and got back to work, brushing a large black and white stallion.

Roger continued his survey of the property, always keeping in mind how the different areas were approached or approachable with reference to the majestic manor. He explored a nearby copse of trees and found an interesting old ruin within the ten-acre woodland. It resembled nothing so much as a small stone church with distinctive gothic lines. He guessed it must have been one of those Catholic buildings that had suffered during the reign of Henry the eighth. To his surprise the stone floor was still intact and even the supporting stonework for the roof was still serviceable. It looked to him as if it would be easy to repair the structure. Of course the door and all the windows were gone ...
