My work at the library was not very demanding, in fact it would have been very boring if I did not enjoy reading. I could browse through the shelves for hours, putting myself in the minds of writers and wondered how they came up with all their ideas. I was standing on a step trying to put away the books that came back when I felt somebody staring at me. I tried to see who it was without making it obvious that I was looking. The only person I could see was a man standing with his hands in his pockets looking at me, a few feet from where I was standing on the step.

"Can I help?" I asked.

He just smiled and said he could wait until I was finished. I could feel a hot flush rising in my face. He was very handsome, with twinkling eyes.

I completed the filing of the books and got down. He reached out to help me but I was too quick. On the ground I looked at him and thought "Wow! What a hunk of a man."

"Can I help you sir?" I asked again.

"My name is John and I am looking for someone who can do some typing for me. You see I am a writer." He pulled his right hand out of his pocket and showed me the bandages around his hand. ...
