When the Hallworths arrived, many guests were already celebrating at the Fitzherbert estate. This time they'd arrived in a carriage and the Hallworth footmen placed the carriage at the rear of the manor house after the Hallworth tribe entered the wide-open front doorway. The butler took Belinda and Allan's cloaks along with Allan's favorite tricorn. Both Roger and Allan were wearing white wigs for the semi formal occasion.

Everyone was dressed to the hilt including the servant. The musicians were already tuning up and the ladies were prominent with their bare shoulders and stunning dresses. Silk and brocade of satin and velvet was as common as muslin was among the poorer classes. The glitter of costly jewels sparkled even in the candlelight. The chandeliers gleamed and blazed light into the great banquet hall and although it wasn't as bright as day, yet it was very brilliant for an evening get together.

A few of the very old guests were already drinking from the flowing bowl that contained what seemed to be an unlimited supply of alcohol laced fruit punch. Food was stacked on several tables in the center of it all on the far wall was a huge cake intended for Roger and the others of course. As they entered the ballroom Roger remarked, "Even I can't eat all that cake." This brought amused chuckles from Elaine and Allan. Belinda remained quite silent as she perused the crowd. Then ...
