Business Trip With My Husband

My name is Kristen, but most people I know call me Kris. I am a 44 year old married woman with two kids, a 22 year old daughter and a 19 year old son. My husband, Jeff, and I were married the summer after I graduated from college.

Jeff is an engineer with a large manufacturing company and was doing well in his job, having gotten a promotion to Group Supervisor with four other engineers reporting to him shortly before I became pregnant with our daughter, Lisa. I worked from home as a newspaper columnist, writing a three-times-a-week human interest column that I faxed to my editor to be published the next day.

When Lisa was not quite two, we decided that it was time to add an additional member to our family and I began trying to become pregnant. It wasn't difficult and I became pregnant almost as soon as I stopped using birth control. This pregnancy, however, didn't go quite as smoothly as my first. At about seven months, my blood pressure began to increase and my doctor instructed me to get lots of bed rest and forget about having sex until after the baby was born.
