I was nervous, waiting for Janey and her friend Cindy to arrive. We had agreed to meet at a nice restaurant the two women knew about, near the hotel in Cincinnati where I was staying, attending a conference connected with my work. It was such a crazy and exciting plan. After months of e-mail exchanges, and one very hot phone sex session, Janey and I, two supposedly mature fifty-somethings were planning to meet. It wasn't just sex, I told myself. Well, it was mainly sex, I conceded, but I believed that we had established a bond that went a little deeper than shared lust.
