The Last Pharaoh 16 By Will Buster

975 B.C.E.

Pharaoh Siamun watched with curious eyes as his servant, Amoz approached the throne. The living God was fully dressed in his most stately robes and golden arm bands. He held the staff and crook. The Pharaoh's head was adorned with the double crown and golden cobra. It seemed to Amoz that the great man floated in a static pond of glittering gems. Behind pharaoh stood a well muscled slave who fanned the monarch with an ornate fan of peacock feathers. The court was silent, expectant for news about the land far to the east.

Amoz stopped about ten feet before the feet of pharaoh and raised his right hand in formal salute.

"All hail great pharaoh, ruler of upper and lower Egypt, beloved of the Nile God and the source of life to the two lands. Peace be with you, son of Osiris. May you live for millions of years, great one!"

Amoz knew from years of experience how to control his voice so that it reached all ears in pharaoh's court. He had used the most antique form of the formal greeting to show his complete respect for the person of pharaoh and the living god responded with a smile and a nod.
