A Special Christmas Gift

It had been a very long and difficult year. Both of my parents had passed away really early in my life, and my older sister always tried to include me in her family traditions, but I always felt out of place, and like the 5th wheel. Don't get me wrong I loved spending time with my 2 nephews and did everything I could to spoil them with anything they wanted. I wasn't their ONLY Uncle, but they called me their favorite uncle. My brother-in-law came from a very large family of 9 kids. Who in their right mind would keep going after having 5 boys in a row, and finally getting a girl on the 6th try? I would have cut the plumbing myself, if it were me !!

My sister's "in-laws" wanted to go on a cruise of the Bahamas for the holidays, that year. They invited any of their kids that could afford to join them, to go along, and my sister and brother-in-law wanted to go, but couldn't afford to take their twin boys, Matthew and Michael. I offered my services of baby-sitting, for the 2 weeks they'd be gone, and again I became the FAVORITE brother/uncle, in the whole wide world. After all the years of including me in her family's holiday activities, I felt it was the least I could do.
