Tommy grades quickly improved and with a little politics from the Coach to the Dean as well as the school board and the state athletic committee, he was allowed to play in the first game of the playoffs. Now the team was only one game away from being assured a spot at a bowl game and the star quarterback was looking for a way to relax before the long bus ride tomorrow morning.

Tommy found that reading quietly in the school library was a good was to unwind and clear his mind. Not that he was actually studying any one thing in particular; this was more like free-reading. Which ever book he pulled off the shelf he'd take to the nearest table and try to get lost in its pages. Sometimes he found real gems and other times it was all shit, but the thought of not knowing which it would be was the relaxing part.

He had been reading for the afternoon and lost track of the time, so it was no wonder he had 15 text messages on his cell when he emerged from the building. Most of them were from his teammates, one from Coach, two from his Mom, and one from Peggy. He checked them and deleted most, but he was puzzled by the one he'd gotten from Peggy. It had only said "8 PM" and nothing else so he could only assume she meant to be at her place. Deciding he had time for a quick shower before he'd have to leave, Tommy hurried across campus back to his dorm.
