Coaching Kristin – Part II

After five days of procrastinating, of having those images of Kristin replay over and over in my mind – the shower, the pool, the hot tub – I grabbed the phone to schedule our next workout. My hand trembled as I held the receiver. I felt like a dirty old man, but I was also filled with excitement. But I was afraid of what had happened to me that day at Kristin’s house. What I saw, how I felt about it.

This was going way beyond. I had to put an end to it. School was soon to be starting, so I decided to bail. Hopefully, she’d forget about me. I figured it would be a while since I would forget her. But this was for the best.

The machine picked up and I left a quick message.

“Hey, it’s John. Sorry to say I won’t be able to make the next work out. Actually, I might not be able to come by for the rest of the summer. I have a few personal things to tend to. I apologize. If you want, I can send Coach Julie from camp over. Call me and I’ll arrange it. Take care and good luck, Kristin. OK, bye.”
