It had been an epically horrible day. The kind you think only happen in crap novels, cautionary tales, or Lifetime movies of the week. In the space of eight hours, I'd managed to lose two clients, delete all the files on my computer in a freak accident that the technojerks said was due to a magnetic disturbance, and somehow offend the CEO of the company. I'm still not sure how that happened, but I have a hunch that it had something to do with my douche bag supervisor throwing me under the bus. Figuratively speaking, of course. Though I have no doubt that he would have no qualms about throwing me under an actual bus if he thought it would give him a leg up.

So it had been a bad day. And as I left the office, spinning my way through the revolving doors, I wanted nothing more than to drink myself into oblivion.

With this goal firmly in mind, I made a bee line for the nearest hotel figuring that if it got really bad, I could just book a room for the night and sleep off my alcohol induced stupor. Singleminded in focus, I strode purposefully into the bar, plunked myself down on a stool and summoned the bartender over:

"A shot of jack and a beer." The bartender went to work. "And another shot." He paused for a moment to look at me. "Bad day." He nodded.
