Chapter 14 -

When I was a small child, growing up in the great hall of my benefactor, the Baron, one of the things I liked best was romping around in the pristine English Country side. As I grew from childhood into young adulthood, this desire to romp and explore took a very natural turn. I looked to the great expanse of heaven above, and said to myself "oh, for the wings of a dove".

When I came of age, I obtained a pilot's license, and started to fly a small plane that my benefactor used to keep on his large English estate. What I'm driving at is that I've always yearned for the great open spaces, and whether it be romping through the English country-side as a small boy, or taking to the skies as a young man, great open space has always been something that has called to my inner depths.

Having grown to man's estate, I found that living in a downtown metrop condo had many advantages to the great hall. Easy access to cultural events, and a short drive from the universities and all my friends, and so forth. However, balanced against this, it had some decided drawbacks, first, it was quite cold and lonely over the winter. Who the dickens wants culture and education if there's no one to share it with?

Secondly, conditions in LA were quite cramp, and there was little chance ...
