Mike, his wife Janet, my wife Kelly and myself, have been the best of friends for years. Mike and I were best man in each others wedding, as well as the two girls standing up for each other. Mike and I have known each other since grade school. We grew up together, and have great insight into how the other thinks. When ever we get together, we all have a great time. Janet and Kelly get along fantastically, and when they get going on something together, whether it be shopping or the kids or work, it gives Mike and I time to get away and talk the guys stuff - movies we've seen, toys we want to buy, the hot new girl at work, and even whatever kinda naughty bedroom stuff we have gotten out respective wives to do.

A few years back, Mike's job transferred him a couple of hours away from where we live, which isn't a real big deal overall, but when you factor in all of the other responsibilities of life (kids, work, etc. etc.), getting together with them became far less frequent. An occasional weekend here or there we can still pull off, but we decided for sure that at least one weekend a year we were going to make a traditional getaway to this fantastic hunting lodge my uncle owns in Michigan. The lodge is a spectacular log cabin with a beautiful stone fireplace and high ceilings in the large open main room with a large living room area, kitchen and dining area. A log stairway went up to a landing overlooking the main room with a couple of recliners seated on the landing that overlooked a large window across the room with a beautiful view of the lake the lodge is located on.
