CHAPTER ONE - Summer without Terry

I lived the next few weeks in severe shock, after the drowning accident, the sudden and cruel death of my best friend, Terry. I might say now, years later: I never got over it. But life had to go on, no matter how guilty I might have felt about the circumstances of Terry's death - and I couldn't help those feelings of culpability sneaking up on me day after day, to begin with. You can't just duck out of life easily even if you want to, and not everyone goes like Terry did. I missed my best friend like hell.
