I was at large shopping mall on Monday afternoon (Today is Thursday) and was sitting on a table for two outside a Starbucks. I usually don't drink their coffee because it takes up too much of my pension check. However, this was the best place to be at this time--in more ways than one.

As I was waiting for the coffee to cool down a bit, a rather nice-looking lady came by with a cup. All the tables were occupied, so I got her attention and said, "I don't mind sharing my table. Sit here if you want." "Thanks, that's sweet of you." and sat down.

We introduced ourselves and talked about nothing special; but as we got to become more familiar, the conversation got a little more personal. She told me she was single (widowed to a man who was electrocuted on a construction site); worked part-time at a women's clothing chain; lived in a condo about three miles away; occasionally came to this mall on her day off because she didn't want to go near the mall she worked in.

I told her about me; my professional background; my unsatisfying married life ("Oh, that's too bad. But, it can be fixed " she said with a smile). I told her about my love for sports, music, and travel; about my grandchildren and other stuff that old people talk about (You can smile here.)
