Chapter 4

England was lovely as usual in mid April 2149. Kal started his vacation by visiting some of the great historical landmarks before he went hunting down information on Edward Spencer. To his own surprise he was deeply touched when he saw the tomb of Thomas Beckett along with the great Norman cathedral of Canterbury. To think it was almost a thousand years after the four knights had stormed into the house of God and cut Beckett down. There was so much to see that he soon lost track of it all. He saw Buckingham palace, Magna Carta, the crown jewels, Nelson's tomb and so much more.

Then he checked with the staff at Cambridge University and to his astonishment there was no trace of an Edward Spencer anywhere in the university records. He talked with retired staff members and none of them remembered an Edward Spencer with sharp gray eyes and brown hair. He showed them the photo and not one little light dawned. He asked for and got a special permit from General Wilcox so that he could gain access to the school's computer records.

As it turned out, during the decade from 2090 to 2100 there was nothing resembling that name that had attended Cambridge. Oh there was an Alfred Spencer and a Robert Spencer and an Agatha Spencer but no ...
