Her first week back in the office, after being out for three weeks while getting settled in her new house, had been a long one. She'd had a million e-mails to catch up on, a number of reports to read and a mountain of paperwork that needed to be completed and signed off on. In between all that, she was conducting interviews for a new administrative assistant. Her previous assistant had left the company about two months earlier, shortly after getting married.

Katie was thrilled when Friday afternoon finally arrived. She'd gotten through the last of her backlog of work, and had just one more interview scheduled before she could start her weekend. Katie had done a number of interviews already that week and hadn't yet come close to finding someone she felt would be able to handle the position. She was hoping the last interview would not be a disappointment. From their resume and first interview with the HR department, the last candidate appeared to have the best qualifications and prior experience. Katie hoped it would be a good fit.

As Katie sat at her desk skimming through the resume one more time, the receptionist buzzed, letting her know the candidate had arrived and was on the way up to her office.

"Hi, I'm Katie Thornton." Katie greeted the candidate at the door and led her into her office.
