"Dear, God, its hot," mumbled Dani. She wouldn't admit it now, but the heat was her favorite part. It was her senior year of high school and she was on the Varsity Softball team. She'd been playing since she could pick up a bat without falling over and the game she had been waiting for her whole softball career was four days away. The scouts were coming and she was nervous as hell. At the moment, she was trying to improve her batting. She stepped up to the plate, looking at her coach, Rick, on the pitcher's mouth. He had agreed to stay later after practice this week to help her.

After all, he had called the scouts because of her. Looking at her now, walking up to the plate, you could just see that she oozed talent and a real love for the game. She reminded him of himself ten years ago. Of course, he could no longer play. At 28, he never expected to be coaching high school softball and teaching. Like Dani, he too had "that game." It looked like he was going to go all the way, but in the final inning, as he was rounding third, his knee gave out and he ended up tearing a ligament. He looked at Dani watching him.
