Leo and Mr. Stratton arrived just then and shared the coffee and pie with them.

"So Lexi, Leo tell you about our little home improvement project?"

Lexi nodded. "He said he is helping you fix up the basement."

"When did you tell her that Leo?"

"I saw him at the coffee shop and he told me."

"Well, we got the drywall and plaster up. Gotta wait for that to dry before we paint it, and we got the new floor in. Then we replaced all the fixtures n the bathroom. All that room needs now is a new tile floor which I guess we will work on while the plaster walls set."

"Sounds like a lot of work." Lexi said, politely.

"Well, it is a labor of love now that my son is back. I had almost lost hope that he would never return, and he almost didn't. "

After the coffee and pie, Leo walked Lexi out to her car.
