Six months had passed since David and I had separated and I was establishing some new routines. After years of a deteriorating marriage that was mostly being held together by a commitment to the kids, David announced he was leaving and soon moved in with woman twelve years younger.

I turned 40 last January and despite having had two children I still look very much like I did at 30. I'd say 25 but that may be pushing it :). Certainly I've added six or seven pounds to my frame but I'm not entirely sure that's a bad thing as it's filled me out a bit - and I'm still just 115 pounds on a 5' 7'' frame. The first few months after the separation I tried to maintain similar routines for the sake of my kids - but now that they're both in middle school they are taking care of themselves more and more - needing less and less of Mom. Financially I'm comfortable and have a solid family and friend network in place which has helped me adjust. My girlfriends have worried about me and about a month ago a close friend Cindy and I agreed to take golf lessons twice a week to stay active and have some fun.

I've always enjoyed tennis but wanted to learn how to play golf so that as my kids get older this would be something we could do together. Little did I know I'd learn the game and a lot more too! Cindy had already taken a few lessons with the pro instructor (Kevin) at our local course.
