The desk clerk waved Peter Mitchell over as he entered the hotel. It was after 4 a.m.

"We've had complaints about the party, the noise ... but the band is famous and I didn't want to do anything." He shrugged. These things frustated Peter. He'd asked to book the entire floor, but no, management said there would be no problems. Peter dug into his pocket and pulled out a roll of 100 Euro notes, peeled off five and gave them to the desk clerk. He couldn't believe how much cash he carried these days. For situations like this.

"Tell those complaining that this can pay for their rooms. And you've got my credit card information. I'll see if I can quiet things down a bit." He turned towards the elevator. It was a bribe he knew. The hotel rooms would show up on his bill; the 500 Euros in the desk clerk's pocket.

He could hear the party as soon as the elevator doors opened. And they were on the fourth floor. It was louder when the doors opened on the fourth. No wonder people complained. This was Utrecht, the Netherlands. He always booked suites for the band so there would be a place to meet and plan. Parties weren't that common.
