Lil and Ethan had been "friends with benefits" for a couple of years. Any time that both of them were uninvolved they would call on one another to fulfill their needs. Neither had openly considered their off and on relationship as anything other than one of convenience. Secretly both wanted something more substantial but would never admit it. Sex between them was fun but unemotional; each making a point to keep it that way.

Things changed when Ethan started to get serious about his new girlfriend. Lil was not used to being the one not in a relationship and her jealousy started to show. After canceling their usual Monday afternoon coffee date three weeks in a row he sent her an e-mail "Lil, I don't know what has gotten into you lately but it's driving me crazy. If you cannot see fit to act like a normal person just leave me alone." When Lil read it, she was hurt and confused. Not knowing where this came from Lil decided it was best to keep her distance for a while and let things cool off. Several weeks went by with no word from Ethan. The more time that passed the more hurt she became; what had she done wrong?
