Roger flipped through the pages of the magazine that he had hoped would take his mind off his current problems. It hadn't helped in the slightest and he tossed it down on the bed in disgust. He thought about where he was at the moment, having been let go from his sales position in the mid-west due to short-sighted corporate forecasters. Three months later, when the last of his prospects dried up, he felt he was against the wall and his wife came to his rescue once again.

"I had a terrific surprise today, Rog." She beamed. "I got a call from Liz."

Roger half-listened as Sue relayed most of the conversation. At least the parts she wanted to tell. He was pretty sure Sue would've looked for a sympathetic ear and Liz would've been eager to listen and pass along advice. They had always been each other's sounding board.

"She says things are absolutely booming on the coast and you should try out there." Sue went on.

"Oh, sure", Roger quipped, "I'll rush right out there tonight, get a job tomorrow, buy a house on Tuesday and I'll be back on Thursday to move us out."

"Don't be such a child." Sue shot back bitterly. "Look, Liz is willing to help us out and you should be grateful. She's going to book you a ...
