Paula looked away from the television and over towards the digital display on the front of the small clock that was resting on her nightstand. By her count it was quickly closing in on thirty minutes ever since Darrel had taken his leave of the room and their bed in order to seek out recreation elsewhere. She glanced back over at the television screen and tried to retrain her concentration on the picture show only to have it continue to be disrupted by the soft wail of a voice that crept through several layers of wall to seek out her ears.

She couldn't outrightly place all of the blame for her discomfort on him, seeing as how it was due to her insistent prodding and current aggravation with his annoying presence that Darrel had been forced out of the room and on his way to darken Jamie's bedroom door. Still, lying there listening to the faint noise being swept up by the jostling box spring and mattress that supported the duo as Jamie's ecstatic cries rang out over it, she was finding it increasingly harder not to lay a great deal of the blame at Darrel's feet.

Turning the volume on the television up any louder would only succeed in irritating her that much more. Instead, Paula tossed the sheets aside and climbed out of bed hell bent on making a go for the kitchen in search of some libations that might make for a better state of relaxation.
