Gage must have fallen asleep, because he didn’t hear anyone until there was a small knock on the door. “Darling, it’s mommy. Can I come in?” Gage did a quick bolt out of the chair. He glanced over at Caitlin and noticed she was still sleeping. God, how in the world is he going to explain this one? Especially when he knew Caitlin was still naked underneath the covers.

There was another small knock. “Caitlin, please. Open the door. Are you all right? Your father told me you weren’t feeling well last night. Honey?”

Gage had to think quickly. If the Queen caught him in Caitlin’s room, no matter how much explaining he did, he would be thrown in the dungeons for the rest of his life. He glanced over at the bathroom door. No, what if someone needed to use it? Gage acted quickly and immediately thought of the balcony. He rushed over to the balcony doors and opened up the curtains. He unlocked the latch and stepped outside. He scooted as far as he could against the wall so that the only way he could be seen is if someone stepped outside. Well, he didn’t want to think of that happening...
