When wife number three and I parted, things were pretty acrimonious there for a while, but as with many such partings, once the anger, the pain, the grieving stops, renewed friendships are often formed.

Such was the case here. After the pain of the divorce settled down, and our feelings towards each other returned to what might be tentatively described as an even keel, we still kept in touch and from time to time went out to dinner, and so on.

Ex number three was a financial planner, and each year she attended the major national conference here in Australia, each year held in a different part of the country. This year it was in a beautiful part of what is called Far North Queensland, in the city of Cairns.
