Comforting Junior Part 1

After listening quietly for about twenty minutes whilst his son bared his hurt mind, Jake Richards Snr, being the latter day good father that he is desperately trying to become, could only come up with his brand of sympathy. The kind of sympathy that assuages his own guilt rather than soothes his son's crushed heart and bruised ego. He offers his son what more or less amounts to a bribe (an incentive is what he would call it though) to help him get over his pain.

Jake Snr. Says to his son over the telephone, after a few words of empathy, "hey remember that vacation we promised Marie we were gonna take someday, you and I?" When his son answers in the affirmative, he continues; "well, now is as good a time as any, besides, the time out is gonna do you a great deal of good, take some weight off of your chest. Lord knows you need that right now."

Both men round off their phone conversation after agreeing to meet at the family holiday cottage on the lake, in two days. That gives Junior about enough time to drive across two states and get to the cottage in good time.
