Comforting Junior Part 2

No sooner has she asked than he goes silent..... He remains quiet for all of three minutes, then he looks at her and holds up one finger; "one word, Tara". "Didn't my father tell you about me and Tara?" "You know Jake, it's all "need to know" with him". At the sound of that they both burst into one of those alcohol induced laughs...

"Tara is, well I guess I should say was my fiancée. We were engaged to be married next June"; he begins to tell her about the incident that brought his whole romantic world to an unexpected end.

I returned unexpectedly from a trip late that night, there was a car in the driveway that I didn't recognize. I assumed that Tara had a friend over for dinner or something.

As I stepped into the living room, I saw the three wine glasses, and three empty bottles. Close by on the couch I also noticed a pile of discarded clothes. I stood there for a couple of minutes mentally scratching my head, and then a thousand thoughts ran through my mind all at once. Instinctively, my eyes followed the trail of strewn under garments in the direction of our bedroom.
