Part 3--More Things Happen At Flight School.

Erin was the oldest of the class at 27. She was divorced, having been the victim of domestic violence for which her ex would be the guest of the state of Georgia for the duration of his life. It seems this was his "third strike." Erin was tall, about 5'10" and a 36c chest. She had very dark brown hair, shoulder length, and legs that went on forever. She reminded me of the Jethro Tull song "Budapest" where one of the lyric lines went "and her legs went on forever." Boy, did they. Erin was a former collegiate athlete who kept her body in tip-top shape. She was also a top-notch student. She had been on the dean's list every quarter in college. When asked why she wanted to enter aviation as a career she responded by saying that her uncle was a pilot for the Navy and had flown F-104's in Viet Nam. He must have given her the ‘bug.'

Erin was a quiet student, but one who soaked up every ounce of knowledge before her. She and Julie both drove the rest of the class to excel by asking questions about the "What If" scenarios we all face when piloting a plane, let alone one with up to 300 souls aboard. She soloed in only 8 short hours. (I did it in 5) I've had lots of air time with Erin and she certainly proven herself worthy of respect for her accomplishments at an age when most people, let alone a woman (this was in 1991) would try this field as a career.
