Eurail

I had just finished my college degree and decided to take a trip through Europe for the summer before looking for a job. Friends had told me the only way to go was to buy a rail-pass and ride the high speed trains from place to place and get to see a bit more of the countryside.

I arrived in Munich and spent the first couple days getting my internal clock reset and orienting myself to the different time and lifestyle. I soon found out that being a single woman in Europe was an invitation to get "hit-on" by every male in the country, from teenagers to mature men my dad's age. It also didn't seem to matter if they were residents or tourists themselves, I was getting all sorts of propositions everywhere I went. To tell you the truth, I kind of liked all the attention.

My first train excursion was to Paris. The trip was to take about five hours and I boarded the train at 4:00 PM. The weather was very warm and the air-conditioning in the coach car wasn't too stellar so I went back to the dining car where it was substantially cooler. Problem was, everyone else was trying to get seated for the same reason and the line seemed like it wasn't moving at all. I had worn a light cotton sun dress, but even that wasn't cool enough to offset the stifling heat.
